Background:

Over the past 15 years I have worked with children, teens and adults facing a vast array of challenges in various contexts. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. As a therapist the central areas of my training have been in play therapy, emotional self-regulation, anxiety and depression. I am a qualifying, certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. In addition to being a therapist, I am also an Ontario Certified Teacher with extensive classroom and learning support experience. In both counselling and education, I am passionately committed to helping individuals and families discover their strengths and move toward wellness.

Practice:

Children

Children encounter similar stressors to those of adults. Whether they are facing school related problems, discord in the family or grief, carrying the pain can be overwhelming. Children often lack the words and resources to cope effectively. As I engage with children, I provide them with a safe opportunity to process what they are experiencing through play and talk therapy. I work collaboratively and compassionately with parents and caregivers to help their children thrive.

Adults and Teens

There are times in life when we are faced with emotional pain that makes it difficult to move forward. I consider it an honour to walk alongside those who want to get unstuck and recalibrate on the road to wellness. I believe that counselling is a mutual process. Establishing an atmosphere where you feel heard, respected and acquire a sense of hope is at the core of my practice. I work from a strengths-based, evidence-informed therapeutic model. All are welcome without judgement.

I have experience working with those who have encountered:

  • Parenting stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Learning disabilities
  • Academic stress
  • Workplace stress
  • Spirituality/faith issues
  • Cultural transitions
  • Identity issues
  • LGBTQQ issues
  • Self-harm

…and more

Office Information:

I have appointments available between Monday and Thursday, as well as most Saturday mornings. Other times are available upon request. The current fee is $100 per 55 minute session. Some extended benefits plans provide coverage for services provided by a therapist with a Master of Counselling Psychology degree, and a qualifying Certified Canadian Counsellor. Please inquire with your insurance company since each plan varies. There are some appointments available at a reduced rate for those experiencing financial hardship.
