As a therapist it is my goal to provide support, compassion and guidance to children and adults who are facing life’s many challenges, and it is my privilege to walk alongside them on their journey of change. I believe in the ability and strength of the human spirit to heal and grow and am passionate about assisting others in this transformation. I pride myself in treating clients as experts of their own experiences and invite them to look at new perspectives and opportunities for growth. I am a graduate of the Masters of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University and received an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. I have additional expertise and training in the area of child and play therapy. I was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo and it is important to me to give back to the community that has shaped me. I have worked as a counsellor in various agencies within this community, specializing in issues related to the well-being of women and children. In addition to my practice at Southern Ontario Counselling Centre, I also work at KidsAbility Centre for Child Development, supporting families of children with special needs. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and committed to ongoing training in my field.
I have a wide range of experience and training supporting people facing a variety of life challenges including loss, trauma, parenting struggles, domestic violence and attachment difficulties. I specialize in working with children and provide support in the areas of separation and divorce, trauma, anxiety and depression, grief, self-esteem, and learning to regulate and cope with emotions. I believe in giving children a safe space to work through struggles that are impacting their lives and use play therapy techniques as a vehicle in helping children to express their inner conflicts. In addition, I work to provide clients with tools to cope with life’s challenges and I believe in structuring sessions to meet the specific needs of the client. It is of the utmost importance that there is trust and safety within our therapy sessions and that we work collaboratively towards change.
My practice is located in a peaceful country setting in St. Agatha, just 10 minutes west of Waterloo. My days of work are Tuesdays and Thursdays – I offer appointment times throughout the day with some evening appointments available. The cost of a 50 minute session is $120. Many E.A.P.’s and extended health care plans will pay for the services of a therapist with a Masters of Social Work degree.
You can contact me by email (email@example.com) or by leaving a message on my confidential voicemail at 519-746-2323 ext 501. I will respond to you as soon as possible to make a plan that best fits your needs.
